Hello West Michigan ASSE Members;
Welcome back to a "New Year with West Michigan Society of Safety Engineers. This year (2009-2010) will prove to be a very challenging time, requiring everyone to do more with less. West Michigan Chapter/Board is proud to serve its members.
We have a program committee that has spent time and effort to afford you the opportunity to attend meetings that are going to prove to be beneficial. The exciting portion will be having you in attendance to share experiences and to network with safety professional of all levels. Scott Plummer (Program Chair) has put together our "draft Program Schedule located on the WMASSE website. This year, as in the past, we encourage continuous support from our Grand Valley student chapter.
Our first meeting is scheduled for the 15th of October. Please note we attempt having meeting times very close to the 3rd Thursday of each month, so you are able to set this date aside on the calendar. We encourage each of you to make good use of your dues by attending a meeting or volunteering your time.
As you may remember from last year, we had the signing for the Alliance with Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration, Greater Detroit Chapter, Lansing Chapter and our own West Michigan Chapter. The efforts of many made this activity a smooth transition last year (many hands make light work).
On October 7th in Kalamazoo - Pfizer is offering a Mini-Safety Conference and the WMASSE is planning on having the ASSE booth set up to promote our Chapter and the Society - Clara Davis has volunteered to be there for us.
Please welcome back this year’s board members; Jamie Bauer (Vice President), Heather Kubiak (Treasurer), Jeannine Hemry (Secretary), Brian Oczepek (Newsletter Editor & House of Delegate), Scott Plummer (Program Chair) and Mike McKay (Website Editor).
Hope to see you at the next meeting.
Brian Becker
