WMASSE Student Scholarship
In an effort to assist college and university students in obtaining an undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety and Health related fields, and promote excellence in completing curriculum requirements, WMASSE has created another student scholarship for the 2005/06 year.  The $1000.00  award will be distributed to the winning student who meets all of the eligibility requirements.  They include, but are not limited to the following: Meeting attendance, create a PowerPoint Presentation or paper on career goals in the safety profession and a case study on a safety related topic and Prepare a safety video on a safety related topic.

Projects must be submitted by February 1, 2006 to Clara Davis, and winners will be announced on or before March 10, 2006.

Congratulations to Brian Oczepek of Waste Management who recently achieved his ASP.  Good luck in taking the next step the CSP!!!

Congratulations to Brett Hodgson of Earth Tech who recently achieved the OHST designation.

A second reminder-Dan Grzegorski and Eric Kreiger are heading up the nominating committee for board positions  for the 2006/07 term.  Any members are welcome to submit nominations to Dan or Eric.

WMASSE Safety Professional of The Year (SPY) nomination form for 2006 will be posted on the website by the end of the month and more details will be published in the Newsletter next month.guideline to nomination is coming soon from the SPY Committee. Nominations will be due by the end of April 2006.

In case you have not already heard, the Herman Miller 171st facility has been recommended for MVPP Star recognition by MIOSHA. is the highest level of distinction MIOSHA can bestow upon a facility. put it into perspective this facility will become the second office furniture facility in the United States and the 21st overall facility in Michigan to receive such an honor. have now entered into a truly elite group.
