Grand Valley Occupational Safety and Health Program News
The fall semester at GVSU has started and the Occupational Safety & Health program has again experienced a growth in the number of students enrolled in the undergraduate program.New undergraduate courses include:
- Product Liability and Safety (fall 2006)
- Health Care Facility Safety (winter 2007)
- Motor Fleet Safety (fall 2007)
- Construction Safety Management (winter 2008)
In addition, the University’s reorganization has placed the undergraduate Health Professions degree under the directorship of Dr. Eric VanFleet.
The Master of Science in Safety Management degree is on track for approval with graduate level courses scheduled to be offered in the fall 2008 semester. The degree is designed for working safety professionals with courses offered in the evening and on weekends. Online courses will be offered at a later date.
The degree requires 36 credit hours and includes courses in OSH management, technical areas (ergonomics, fire, etc), research and statistics with a thesis or a work-related project required for graduation. Up to 9 credits of electives outside of OSH may be taken to tailor the degree to the student’s professional or career needs.
